Student Info

Basic Whitetail Academy Course

Each student is responsible for their own transportation to and from the school.
If flying, nearest airport is Indianapolis International Airport. (10 miles from school)

Class time is scheduled to start at 8:00am sharp on scheduled days. Classroom time is very important. Starting time will not be delayed for any students running late.

Each student needs to provide their own whitetail deer antlers (on skull cap) and frozen whitetail cape to be fleshed and tanned. (Capes will be thawed upon arrival for class time as instructed by instructor.) It is ok for the skull to be within the cape. Cape removal instructions will be given in class.

Antlers and capes can be shipped if a student is planning on flying into Indianapolis. Please make arrangements with the instructor to have these items before shipping. Proper shipping is VERY important. It must be shipped overnight to make sure it arrives frozen.

If a whitetail cape and antlers are needed, the school will have some available for purchase at the school for an extra cost. Please make arrangements for purchasing prior to attending class.

During the shoulder mount course you will learn from start to finish a variety of ways from yesterday’s to today’s techniques to mount a basic wall mounted whitetail deer shoulder mount.

Freeze dried whitetail deer feet will be provided by the school for the deer feet gun rack course. And each student will take one completed gun rack home.

The European skull mount course will be demonstrated on any variety of skulls that is available. This is a class demonstration and the skull will remain at the school for display.

Students must be prepared to take home their mounts and materials. Close To Nature School of Taxidermy will not provide shipping or delivery.

Food will only be provided during classroom time. Please be prepared to provide breakfast and dinner for yourself while away from class.
